Come Together and Worship the LORD

This passage tells of the ark of God arriving in Jerusalem for the first time and David placing it in the tent of meeting. There is much excitement, joy, dancing, and celebrating going on because the ark (the presence of God) has finally arrived at the city of David. The people believe that the LORD has fulfilled his promises to Abraham and David. The people of Israel are now on the land they were promised. David as their king is placing God on the throne of Israel, acknowledging through their corporate worship the greatness and faithfulness of their God. David appoints priests to minister before the ark/tent of meeting all day, every day, and teaches them their first liturgical psalm so that all the people can learn it and worship God together in one voice. The first psalm is of thanks and David calls on Israel to worship God for what he has done for them (Psalm 105). Next David calls on the nations to praise God (Psalm 96). Lastly, David reminds Israel of her unfaithfulness and God’s faithfulness to keep his promises (Psalm 106).
